COBRA in Lima, Peru

Today, 8/18/2015 we continued to explore Lima while meeting with important company representatives. We had a presentation from Ricardo Cornejo, corporate director of COBRA Group of Peru.

COBRA is a Spanish based, multinational corporation with a diverse business portfolio. They are involved in Industrial engineering plants (EPC Projects); Network and Grid Infrastructure, installation, assembly and services; Technology and systems; Solar and Wind power; Hydropower and Water treatment plants, and renewable energy sources.

We learned specifically about the mining and water treatment plant projects undertaken in different regions of Peru. We went in depth about the political and legal framework in which foreign companies must navigate. We also discussed in depth the advantages, disadvantages and opportunities of an Alianza Privada-Publica (APP), which is a joint venture between a private company and the public sector, in this case various Peruvian regulatory bodies, Private Public Partnerships (PPP). We examined the Taboada project, an award winning water treatment plant between COBRA and Proinversion, Private Investment Promotion Agency.

According to Proinversion, as of December 2014, there is a project portfolio for an investment amount of US$ 4,000 millions in all sectors, including:
• 3 projects in air, road and river transportation. Investment: US$ 409.4 million

Best Meal Ever

Then our generous client Carlos treated us to unanimously one of the most delicious meal we have ever had! We went to the swank Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian Fusion) restaurant Costanera 700 in the Miraflores district. We had an elaborate multi course dinner with the main entree-a fish that has been cooking for hours, set in ice and then set on fire. It was a spectacular meal with excellent company!
